Controlling Allergens with Dyna-Mittâ

Understanding and Controlling Allergens

What are Allergens and where do they come from?

An allergen is any substance that induces an allergic reaction.  House dust is an allergen that is the major cause of allergies in the home.  Waste particles produced by dust mites are the main allergen substances in house dust to which allergic people react.

House dust not only blows in from outdoors, it is produced from:

  • Microscopic dust mite waste which is invisible to the naked eye

  • Human skin cells which serves as food for dust mites

  • Pet dander and saliva

  • The breakdown of fibers and other materials in the home

Although dust mite waste is the most common allergen found in homes, almost as common are allergens in dander, saliva, and hair of cats and other animals with fur or feathers.  Pet allergens can  be present even in households without pets.

Other common indoor allergens come from mold and mildew, even cockroach waste.

CONTROLLING ALLERGENS  --  DUSTING IS A MUST!

Even though it's virtually impossible to rid the home completely of dust, there are ways to control the amount of dust in the home.

Reasons why the Dyna-Mitt is the best dust cloth you can use:

  • The fibers have a positive charge, dust has a negative charge and is drawn to the Dyna-Mitt like a magnet

  • No expensive chemical additives to buy

  • Over 175,000 fibers per square inch to trap and hold dust

  • More micro-fibers per square inch than any cloth on the market

  • Flexible...conforms to hand and object being dusted

The best dusting method :

  1. Dust thoroughly using the best dust cloth available...Dyna-Mitt.  Dust critical areas once or twice each week when dust and allergens are more plentiful (spring and fall)

  2. Dust furniture, lamp shades,  blinds, windows, curtains and baseboards for maximum reduction and control of dust in the home.

Since people spend one-third or more of each day in the bedroom, it should be the primary area for dust control...it is the room with the greatest number of dust mites.

For added control of allergens, the mattress, box spring and pillows should be encased in
allergen impermeable covers to prevent allergens from escaping and being
inhaled."
